Versatile Blogger Award

Happy Weekend!  I’m just dropping in to give a huge thank you to Melissa at Grin and Barrett for nominating me for the Versatile Blogger Award.  I love blog awards – it is the most encouraging thing to know that others are reading (and liking) your blog.  The award is simple…and so fun.

Here is how the Versatile Blogger Award works:
1. Nominate 15 Fellow Bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award
2. Add an image of the Versatile Blogger Award
3. Thank the blogger who nominated you in a post with a link to their site.
4. Share 7 completely random facts about yourself.
5. Include this set of rules.
6. Inform each nominated blogger of their nomination.

Facts about Me:
1. Favorite food?  Tomatoes.
2. I drink a Coke every day…because I get a headache if I don’t (but I try my best to only have one).
3. I am graduating in December (one semester early) with a degree in Early Childhood Education.
4. It is one of my biggest goals to make a quilt.
5. I cannot do hair…mine looks the exact same every single day…and because it’s kind of related, I always wanted red hair (auburn really…not carrot).
6. I do not have a green thumb…but I really wish I did.
7. Over half of one of my front teeth is a filling (I’m getting a crown this summer I think)…because I fainted face first on hardwood floor…it’s the strangest thing that’s ever happened to me.

Here are my nominees:

Thanks again Melissa!  To all of you nominated ladies: there is absolutely no pressure to post facts or pass along the award.  I genuinely love each of your blogs, and I think y’all are all fabulous!  It would be nice though to let your readers know about the award and Cupcakes and Candy Canes.

Twice as Nice

If you’ve been reading for pretty much any length of time, you ought to know how much I love these adorable blog tagging games!  A few days ago, I was lucky enough to be honored by two – the Sunshine Award and a regular old Q&A game.
Mrs. Cuckoo over at The Cuckoo’s Nest nominated me for the Sunshine Award!

Here are the rules for the Sunshine Award:

1. Include the award’s logo in a post or on your blog.
2. Answer 10 questions about yourself.
3. Nominate 10-12 other fabulous bloggers.
4. Link your nominees to the post and comment on their blogs, letting them know they have been nominated.
5. Share the love and link the person who nominated you.

Here are the 10 Sunshine Award questions:

Favorite color?

Orange, definitely.  It’s the happiest color I can think of (and it’s just a bonus that it happens to be pretty much the state color of Tennessee)!

Favorite animal?

I love dogs and cats (so cuddly)!  I know it’s kind of cliché, but they’re just adorable!

Favorite number?

1.  As long as I can remember, it’s always been 1 – I’m sure that speaks volumes about my personality…

Favorite non-alcoholic drink?

“Always, Coca-Colaaaa…” (and in case you aren’t quite as obsessed as me, that was a Coca-Cola commercial jingle from a billion years ago). Just to clarify – NOT diet, NOT cherry, NOT caffeine free, NOT Pepsi – real deal Coke.

Prefer Facebook or Twitter?

I don’t have a Twitter, so I guess that means Facebook, by default, but I don’t really care for either of them all that much (I never update my Facebook).

My passion?

That’s such a big word; I’ve never thought of it really.  I like a lot of things, but I’m honestly not sure what my passion is.  I’ll work figuring it out, promise!

Prefer getting or giving presents?
I love both of them!  I don’t really have to explain getting, but as for giving…there is something so sweet about spending time thinking about someone and what they might love and then seeing how they react when you give it to them.

Favorite pattern?

Plaid.  I wouldn’t use it in a humongous way in my home, but I love plaid shirts and quilts – it’s so cozy.

Favorite day of the week?

I love Sundays.  There is just something about going to church in the morning and then relaxing in the afternoon that makes the day for me.  (Also…Sunday afternoon naps and/or Lifetime movie marathons!)

Favorite flower?
I don’t know if they are my favorite, but I love hydrangeas.  They just say summertime in the South to me, and they’re so dainty.

Thank you so much!

As if that wasn’t enough to make me smile, Megan over at The Remodeled Life tagged me in a Q&A game!

1. What was your favorite childhood toy?
Probably baby dolls…and they were all named Amy – I’m not sure why.

2. What was your first car?
I had a Jeep Cherokee almost identical to the one I have now.  It was an odd indigo color (the one I have now is blue).

3. What is your favorite type of cheese?
All of it.  I could never pick a favorite!

4. If you could spend a weekend in any American City - which one would it be?
I haven’t been to a ton of places.  I’ve always wanted to see Chicago.  I really like St. Louis too.

5. What's the biggest fish you ever caught?
I didn’t actually get it all the way out of the water, and I don’t know what it was, but I caught a really heavy, really mean fish once that broke two lines!

6. If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Hmmm…I’m not sure.  I know that’s kind of a cop out, but I have no idea!

7. Who is the person you would most like to meet and why?
Right now it’s probably Kate Middleton.  She’s so pretty  and classy!

8. If you could go back in time, what would you tell your 16 year old self?
I wouldn’t tell myself anything…I would ask how I did my eyeliner – because I can almost never get it right anymore!

9. When was the last time you talked to your childhood best friend?
A few months ago to tell her about getting engaged!

10. What's your favorite Holiday?
Christmas!  Definitely!

11. What is one thing you have never done but want to?
Go to Europe.

Thank you!

Now I know that the point of these games is to tag other people, but I’m feeling a little lazy going to do something a little different today!  If you are reading this then you are tagged!
Thank you both so much! Your blogs are both so great, and I am looking forward to reading for a long time!

I Feel Like Sally Field...

...you like me.  You really, really like me!  I'm not sure if y'all have seen the Liebster Blog Award floating around, but sweet Sarah at Sing and Don't be Silent nominated me for the award.  I was so (pleasantly) surprised, and really honored, that she thought of me.  Thank you, Sarah!  I am really looking forward to continuing to read your blog.  I am growing to love this blogging community, and I am so grateful for the opportunity for us all to grow together!

Thank you, Sarah! Make sure to stop by Sing and Don't be Silent!

If you haven't heard, the Liebster Blog Award is to recognize newer blogs, with less than 200 followers.  I love the sentiment behind this!  Not only do we all get a chance to brag on the blogs we love, but it gives us all a chance to grow and expand our favorites as well as our readership.
The rules for the award are:
        1. Thank your Liebster Blog Award presenter on your blog.
        2. Link back to the blogger who awarded/nominated you.
        3. Copy and paste the blog award to your blog.
        4. Reveal your top 5 blog picks!
        5. Drop by your top 5 picks and let them know you chose them by commenting on their blog!

I have really loved finding new blogs to follow, and I especially love building relationships with the owners of these blogs.  Here are my top five picks!

Amy at Your Southern Peach
I absolutely love the atmosphere of this blog.  Not only is it totally adorable, but Amy talks about food, southern life, fashion, and motherhood in such a fresh, fun way!

This blog has some of the cutest crafts you will ever see!  Not only that, but Becky is so sweet about always emailing back when you comment, and makes sure to stop by your blog too.

Rachae and Janelle at How to Fall in Love
This blog is super new, but their honesty and willingness to share life with us is so refreshing that I know they'll be around for a long time!

I found Kelly's blog recently through a wonderful series of events wherein I found an incredible new blog to follow and got my ad displayed on her site.  Although that might make me a smidgen biased, her site really is wonderful - recipes, pictures, design ideas...all amazing.

Last, but certainly not least is Polka Dots and Puppies.  I discovered Rachel through a guest post at Sweet Verbena (another great blog).  Her site is full of recipes, party ideas, and diy cutesies that are just to die for.

I have so enjoyed reading all of these blogs, and I hope you'll stop by each of them and see for yourself how great they all are!  Another big thanks to Sarah at Sing and Don't be Silent for nominating me.

Happy blogging!
