Dear Grant - Month 10

Ten months is a big one…I’m not sure I’m ready! You are, though. You have been such a big boy this month. There has been a lot of playing and a lot of moving and a lot of noise. January is such a long month, but I really feel like we soaked it in!

Between house projects and the end of Christmas break we were total homebodies this month. It suited you well though. You had lots of time to play with your new toys and hone your crawling skills. You’re still an army crawler, but I think you prefer it that way.

Toward the end of the month, we noticed lots of pulling up and the beginnings of some cruising! I have no doubt that as soon as you build up a little confidence you’ll strike out on your own. You also found your voice this month…and it’s usually a whisper. You tell us “bye-bye” and wave, and it is the absolute sweetest. You’ve really nailed down “ma ma ma ma” and “da da da da,” too. You also say ball (sometimes). Are you a little more soft-spoken than your brother?

You are still not a huge fan of food. You’ll eat sweet potatoes, and you tolerate peas and carrots. Crunchy carbs however? All. The. Time. You love crackers and cheerios and graham crackers and goldfish…but that’s not a complete meal.

Dear Grant - 9 Months

Turtle, you are nine months old and the snuggliest, squishiest, loviest buddy! Month nine was huge. We had all the Christmas fun we could handle and then hunkered down for some good, old fashioned quality time at home. It was the best.

We started the month with a visit to Santa. I was a little worried, because you have been aaaalllllll about your people lately, but you loved him! I loved seeing you in Davis’s first Santa outfit. In fact, you spent most of this month in Christmas hand-me-downs. It was kind of the best.

You also really nailed down crawling this month…sort of. You aren’t up on hands and knees, but you army crawl so fast! You are going wherever you want to go, which is usually right after me. I won’t even pretend like I’m bothered by it.

We started trying real food this month, and you were less than thrilled. Davis was over baby food at this point, but you are enjoying your bottles and purees. Puffs however…big fan. Huge.

Dear Grant–8 Months

I’m still behind but catching up! You are 8 months old and loving life!  You are in such a great routine these days. You’re still so agreeable and up for just about anything. Thanksgiving, Christmas decorating, all.the.errands – you’re here for it.

November started with a quick check up for your feet. You have had zero problems since our hospital stay, and we have been so diligent with your skin care. We also settled in to the holiday season – lots of time together and lots of matching brother pajamas. We were so busy (obviously) with Thanksgiving and the start of Christmas that I felt like we barely had a moment to rest, but I always love seeing my babies experience the holidays. This year did not disappoint!

We love crinkly paper…and your three curls.

I always get a little nervous on big holidays because I know your schedule will be all kinds of crazy, but you went with the flow so well. Thanksgiving made for a long day, but you hung in there like a champ! You did not, however, enjoy the sweet potatoes I tried to feed you…

Between hand-me-downs, Granny, and me, you ended up with soooo many Christmas pajamas, and we busted them out at the first of the month! Christmas waits for no one!

It has been so important to Davis that you two wear matching pajamas as often as possible, and I always oblige.
